Founded [when? 1970s?] by a collective including Theo Rehak as a William Morris inspired craft guild. (The name refers to Tolkien's city of Dale, in The Hobbit.) Evolved into an enterprise by Theo Rehak to rescue what could be saved of the physical materials and, more importantly, the knowledge of the former American Type Founders Company.
Passed on [circa 2010; confirm date] to Micah Currier and Daniel Morris.
Micah Currier is presently actively engaged in cutting matrices for new metal types, using the Guild's Benton-designed equipment.
