These Notebooks describe the internal construction of the inch/metric dual-reading dials installed as original equipment on the Top Slide and Cross Slide of my Clausing-Colchester 13" lathe (= Colchester Master 2500). These dials were manufactured by what is now Gamet Products Ltd.
Possible Types of Dual-Reading Dials
Abstractly, there are three possible types of dual-reading dials that might be envisioned.
Disassembly and Assembly Notes
There are two tiny spring-loaded ball bearings in these dials, waiting to fly out, hit you in the eye, and disappear forever under the bench. Even if you don't read these notes, wear your safety glasses!
